Font Choice That Speaks Volumes: Honey and Raspberries

I was recently tasked with redesigning the header for a lifestyle blog that had grown quite popular over the past few years. The challenge wasn’t just about making it look better—it was about creating something that felt authentic, approachable, and aligned with the brand’s voice. After exploring several options, I found myself drawn to Honey and Raspberries. It wasn’t just the visual appeal that caught my attention; it was the personality it brought to the table.

A Font with Character

Honey and Raspberries is a display font that feels both playful and refined. Its curves are soft yet deliberate, and its rhythm gives it a natural flow that invites readers in. It has a friendly, almost handwritten feel, but without the informality of a script font. This makes it versatile enough to work across different editorial contexts while still maintaining a distinct identity.

The font’s mood is warm and inviting—perfect for content that aims to connect with readers on a personal level. Whether it’s used for a blog header, an ebook title, or a newsletter graphic, Honey and Raspberries adds a touch of charm that doesn’t overpower the message.

From Blog Headers to Book Covers

When designing the new blog header, I wanted something that would stand out but also feel familiar. Honey and Raspberries fit the bill perfectly. It added a sense of playfulness without being too whimsical, which made it ideal for a lifestyle blog that covers everything from travel tips to self-care routines.

But the font’s versatility goes beyond headers. I’ve used it for chapter openers in a recipe ebook, where its friendly tone complemented the content. It also worked well as a pull quote in a digital magazine layout, drawing the eye without distracting from the surrounding text.

One of the most striking uses I’ve seen is in a wedding guide. The font’s elegant curves and gentle rhythm gave the design a sense of romance and warmth that matched the theme perfectly. It’s clear that Honey and Raspberries can adapt to a wide range of editorial needs, whether it’s a simple blog post or a more complex publication.

Readability and Practicality

While Honey and Raspberries is undeniably beautiful, I also considered its practicality. Readability is crucial in editorial design, especially when working with long-form content. I tested the font across various mediums, including screen reading, mobile layouts, PDF exports, and print materials.

On screens, the font holds up well, especially at larger sizes. However, for body copy, I recommend pairing it with a more readable serif or sans-serif font. This creates a strong contrast that enhances visual hierarchy and ensures the reader isn’t overwhelmed by the display elements.

In print, Honey and Raspberries maintains its charm while remaining legible. It works particularly well in packaging design and branding materials, where its unique character can help a product stand out on the shelf.

Font Pairing and Editorial Design

When using a display font like Honey and Raspberries, it’s important to consider how it interacts with other elements in your design. For instance, I paired it with a clean sans-serif font for captions and navigation, ensuring that the overall layout remains balanced and functional.

For longer reading content, I suggest using Honey and Raspberries sparingly—perhaps as section headings or decorative accents. Overuse can make the text feel cluttered, so it’s best to reserve it for key moments where its personality can shine through.

Another consideration is the font’s support for multilingual use and file formats. Before incorporating it into any project, I always check for included styles, alternates, ligatures, and commercial licensing details. These factors ensure that the font will work seamlessly across different platforms and applications.

Building a Better Reading Experience

Ultimately, choosing the right font is about more than aesthetics—it’s about creating a better reading experience. Honey and Raspberries does this by combining visual appeal with practicality. It supports visual hierarchy, guides reader attention, and reinforces the brand identity of any publication it’s used in.

Whether you’re designing a newsletter header, a printable planner, or a course PDF, Honey and Raspberries offers a unique way to bring your content to life. It’s a font that speaks volumes, not just in terms of design, but in how it connects with your audience.
